Volunteer with the Rock County Historical Society
Volunteers are critical to the success of the Rock County Historical Society. If you have some free time and are looking for an interesting and enriching experience, then volunteering at the Historical Society may be for you.
Based on your interests, availability and skills, we would work to find an opportunity that suits you and us. If necessary, training will be provided. Potential projects include:
- Write articles for the newsletter
- Clip articles to archive information from local newspapers
- Organize notebooks in the research area
- Do research on information requests the Historical Society receives
- Be a guide at the History Center
- Scan photographs or slides
- Give tours of the Hinkley House
- Help maintain landscaping at our various sites
- Be a guide for the four Fair Buildings during the Rock County Fair
- Work in the Christmas Haus gift shop
- Catalog items already in the collection
- Sell excess items on Ebay
- Salad Luncheon – salads and volunteer help
- Tales from the Grave – pies and volunteer help
- Plaza events – food and volunteer help
- Displays – help setup and take down exhibits, volunteers to help with ideas
- Communities – need volunteers from each of the 9 communities who may have access to additional historic items from their community that could be part of a revised display.
